First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women

Yeah, weird title; get over it. It actually comes from a John Knox book (from 1558) written with the intention of exactly what you're thinking.* But, this book is different, and is actually good.

Eric McCormack. Not this Eric McCormack. Both Canadian though, I think.

From the few (umm.. only) word bite I got from the net about the book.. :

First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women is the story of Andrew Halfnight, whose life-part dream, part nightmare-begins with a mother's tragic choice and ends with a lover's understanding. In between he experiences tempests at sea, relatives who kill for love and lovers who sacrifice their bodies, all the while unknowingly moving ever closer to the central mystery of his, and all existence.

You would love the read.

Given to me by Ryan, who is one of the writers/directors of No Heart Feelings, and the recently picked up by Discovery Channel The National Parks Project (which is absolutely a perfect idea).

*(Actually, there is a blog of the same title now as well, by, who else, a pregnant lady... seems like it has nothing to do with anything except for a catchy title, pregnancy, and Christianity. Enjoy.)
