Easter weekend at home

It was a great couple of days at home. Wonderful Easter dinner, and despite our family not being very religious, it's always nice to have the opportunity to meet and catch up. This year Chris' family came over to our place for dinner and here are a few pics from the weekend...

Havin' some lunch with mom...

The kids around dad...

Mmmm.. wide-angle lenses.

Anna getting a well received geography lesson.

I love these next two shots. This camera is unbelievable.

Playing more bananagrams... by that time of night, the games didn't last long..

And these next two!...

EDIT: How fucking great is this camera... dad's face is 100% in focus, but the glass just in front of him is blurred.. ugh... love it.

I know I've mentioned before Donna, but those new glasses are perfect for you and kick ass. You look great in them, and I don't think I can chalk that one up to the camera... all dressed up and pro looking...

This is the part of the evening where my dad and Anna get into pseudo-karate fights. Dry humour.

Ahh... the peace-eye scrape. A classic Anna move.

Swiecone jajka...

Was walking along Roncesvalles this morning, got a coffee and headed up the street to get my own set of Bananagrams when I serendipitously saw my mom and her friend Janet lined up outside St Casimir's church for the traditional basket blessing; and I went in with them... I remember doing this every Easter with the family; painting eggs in the morning, enduring long lines to buy bread and sausage, then even longer lines to get the basket blessed... Here's a blast from the past.

Off for home now, where (gasp!) there is no internet~!

Funny for so many reasons...

Tomato Soup

So, decided to stay here one more night before heading home tomorrow.. My sisters aren't there yet, and I still needed to make a dish to bring home, which makes sense to do tonight since I got the time. I was going to make a vegetable lasagna, but decided to pull an audible and make some tomato soup for the family instead... I followed this recipe but added a bit more dill... I also added some crackers, cheese, and a small piece of mackerel for a complete European-type Easter meal, which I will apparently be repeating for the next few days...

A roundup: Happy Good Friday!

Nothing much happening tonight... a bit tired and fingers are hurting too much for now to continue on the cello, so gonna pour some hot tea and surf around for a bit before going home to spend the weekend...

The Sadies at the Dakota

While looking around the net, I stumbled on to the Dakota site and saw an unannounced Sadies show Wednesday night... I found out around six, and the doors opened at nine... Perfect timing after the Future Bikes show. The Sadies did not disappoint, starting at around 10:30 and didn't finish until after 2... with two breaks in there. With the short notice I ended up going alone, but K.B. showed up just before the second set and helped me take a few of the almost 600 shots I came home with... a few below... I love this camera and I'm so happy I went with the Nikon cuz I don't think these low-light indoor shots would be possible without it.

Highlights included There's a Higher Power, First Inquisition pt. IV, and I Still Miss Someone. They play again at the Horseshoe on the 30th, and I wouldn't mind attending... they are fantastic, live and on record.
